As Harvey (2013) indicated in his study, students who usually have unhealthy sleeping habit or don’t get enough sleep at night are more possibly to feel stressful than students who sleep appropriately. Because sleep helps students’ body and brain recharge and keep the immunity strong, thus inadequate amount of sleep may make a students aggressive and limit their ability to learn, concentrate and resolve problems.

One of the most common causes of stress in university students is the lack of time management, which means the incapability to organize their work and make a list of priorities. With poor time-management skills, students will possibly lack or lose interests and motivation at school as well as suffer from poor emotional well-being due to stress and depression. Of course, these will affect directly students’ results and their academic performance.

Poor eating habit may increase the level of university student’s stress because they are too busy with a lot of social relationships or studying and preparing for numerous exams, and then many of them do not have enough time to eat a well-balanced meal. Foods, which often increase the stress level in students, contain many kinds that ‘re high in caffeine, fat,  sugar or refined carbohydrates, which is the case with many types of convenience, processed and fast foods. However, many are not aware that having healthy diets can boost their stress into higher level. Foods such as salmon, asparagus, avocados, yogurt and oatmeal are good-for-mood foods that can reduce stress remarkably.

College expense is highly expensive and causes a lot of difficulties for students.

While some students may receive support  from their parents or some sufficient financial aids to pay for their expense, many others have to struggle with how to balance a low-paying job with their already significant obligations. Students find it difficult to make money to pay for their tuition, costs and some other living expenses, or those who make just exactly enough, have to suffer from stress because of the financial problems they have faced with.
